Stardate:2406.10.06 (Shipping Trawler Archimedes- Storage Containment Level One – CMO- Lt. [Dr.] BigWill Kinkaid - 1056) Kinkaid tended to the injured and gave the final scan of the dead crewman. All in all for Kinkaid there was nothing better than being a doctor, but there were certain instances that being something else would be even better regardless of the training. Kinkaid took a moment to get the layout of the area to visually see the modulating force fields protecting and stabilizing the anti-matter fuel cargo. Kinkaid finally knew that this was what brought him to be part of the away team and the mission. The survival or rather the very existence of Starfleet and the Federation was in the presence of Kinkaid. As he finished his medical aid for the injured, Kinkaid heard from his comm badge Commander Troi’s voice calling for Mr. O’Neil. =^= What is going on with the warp core? How long will it be before you can get it back? =^= Kinkaid was not too far from the engineering section when the call came through. At a fast pace, Kinkaid rushed to main engineering to render assistance, if possible. (Reply none) (Posted by Nathan M. We will be sitting ducks without warp and the nimitz would have to be in battle longer than she may be able to handle." Kestra looked around the bridge at the faces of her crew, "Get engineering on it and found out why we have lost warp. I want to know how long before warp power will be at full power again. Move!" Tom just stood there for few moments while he was waiting that primitive computer onboard Trawler do his job   "Sir, I have something. It is somewhere around Engineering, but I can't pinpoint it. What was making matters worse was he still did not know who was the good and who is the bad. The Nimitz and Alamo were currently playing a cat and mouse game in an attempt to survive and maintain the supplies of the fuel. Edward now had to make the decision; he could remain in his quarters and allow the events to proceed however they were going to with out him. However he was never a person whom could usually stand aside and let history leave him out. After all how could he break a habit of a lifetime? He had interfered in history before why not again. (USS Archimedes – Bridge – Lt.Cmdr Edward Gideon – 11:10) As Edward arrived, on the bridge he looked around at the strangers on the bridge. In the back of his mind he had to wonder what was the state of his ship the Alamo, he had maintained her systems for years now. He knew her crew as well as he knew her and neither would surrender easily. Edward took a step forward and felt his chest tightens, he was amongst the enemy or what he had previously interpreted as the enemy. As he paused to speak he noticed a Vulcan in a science uniform begin to display human signs of pain. After studying both species this was peculiar to say the least. Edward rushed over to the Vulcan and spoke in a relaxed tone to be reassuring. Although it was not necessary to reassure an emotionless being. “Lieutenant are you ok?” Edward paused. “Do you require a doctor?” (Reply Saleke, any) (Posted By Richard) Stardate:2406.10.06 0(USS Archimedes - Bridge - Lt. Saleke - 1105)   As Saleke watched the Alamo begin it's run from the Science station he programmed the console to tap into the communications console. With Mr. Tagon gone and no one manning the OPs station it left a rather large void in the bridge crew. His fingers flew quickly and fluidly over the keys and when the mating of the boards was complete and the command configuration correct he turned to Kestra and said. "Commander I have operational control of communications if needed."   (Reply: Kestra Troi)   In the meantime Ensign Slytherwald had completed boosting internal sensors and was beginning to sweep the ship.   "Starting deck by deck wide sensor sweep."   Saleke was dimly aware the young man was standing before the console as he watched the ongoing process.   "Sir, I have something. It is somewhere around Engineering, but I can't pinpoint it. The intruder must be using some kind of anti-sensor cloak." Tom turned his head toward Saleke "I could try remodulating sensor frequency."   Saleke nodded his head at the young man's suggestion. "Excellent idea Mr. Slytherwald, begin at the radiant end of the spectrum and set the computer to run through an automodulation process toward the electromagnetic frequencies. The cloaking devices are quite small and the technology has not advanced far enough to cover every possible frequency."   That did the trick as after a long moment of setting the computer and watching the readouts Ensign Slytherwald gave out a call.   "There it is. I'm picking unknown lifeform in Jefferies tube 5B leading to Main Engineering."   Saleke turned toward him. "Transmit the coordinates to Mr. Tagon so that he can see to picking up the target and notify engineering of the security breach while I keep the Alamo under observation. Also be prepared for possible attack from the Alamo, this could be a feint at the Nimitz with an eye toward attacking the trawler. At some point if he can not stop the Nimitz it is possible the Captain of that ship will turn in an attempt to destroy us."   (Reply: Ensign Slytherwald)   Saleke turned to check on Mr. Eseg`ne, he appeared nervous but was watching the course and speed of the trawler and making slight corrections. Even though he had some issues in his background Saleke had found him to be the best possible candidate from the group of prospects.   Andrew Eseg`ne turned from the board to look at the Vulcan and smiled thinly then turned back to the board. ~We will have an opportunity to find out if he was the correct choice.~ Saleke thought as he looked at the readings once more.   "Commander Troi, three minutes till the Alamo is within firing range of the Nimitz. Dru Tagon- 1108) Tagon had made his way down to engineering, but had no idea what he was going to do once he got there. Whatever was done, that diagnostic was going to need to run its course. There was nothing to do about that. He was no engineer, so he was just trying to make sure that nothing else, or worse, happens. As he was walking through the corridors he got a message from Slytherwald. An unknown lifeform in Jefferies tube 5B. ~Unknown lifeform? What could that be? And what exactly do they expect me to do in a Jeffries tube.~ Muttering to himself he changed directions and headed to the transporter room. He had an idea. (USS Archimedes - Jeffries tube 5B, juncture 12- Engineer Debbie Weston - 1109) Debbie lay on the floor of the Jeffries tube looking at the seals on the rivetts. She felt fairly confident that whoever was invading her ship would not find her. The proximity to so much resonance from the antimatter storage containers made it difficult to isolate any life signs. As she lay there thinking, if she were in their shoes what would she do? Then she began to think that there was a way to determine if there was life inthe Jeffires tubes, using a resonance scan. But even still, they wouldn't be able to pinpoint it for transport out, so they'd have to come in and get her. And more like as not, she'd escape from that. She knew these tubes like no one else. She chuckled. The only way they'd get Debbie Weston would be if they found a large enough mass of bio-matter and then transported out the whole section of the tube. But nobody was likely to do that. Suddenly she felt the familiar tingle of the transporter effect, and watched as the whole section of the Jeffries tube began to disappear. "Or would they?" (USS Archimedes - Transporter room-Lt. Tagon & EO Debbie Weston - 1110) Tagon watched the 5 foot section of the Jeffries tube appear on the transporter padd. A very befuddled young woman stepped out of the section looking to see who could possilby have done what he had done. "You... you... can't just..." Tagon looked at her dispassionately, "Oh but I can." He grabbed the engineer by her collar and lifted her to her tiptoes. holding her like that he began to march her to the bridge. He tapped his comm badge. "Tagon to the bridge, I have the ... sabotuer in hand. Do you want to see her or should I just throw her out the air lock?" The screen showed the Alamo dealing out and receiving extensive damage though the Nimitz had given more than she had received. It appeared as though Captain LaBeau's bid to destroy or drive off the Nimitz was doomed to failure. "Tagon to the bridge, I have the ... sabotuer in hand.  Do you want to see her or should I just throw her out the air lock?" Saleke quirked an eyebrow at the question that came over the Comm from Dru Tagon and he hesitated a split second before speaking. Saleke (jg) - 11:14)   As he waited for Dru Tagon to arrive on the bridge Saleke turned once more back to his monitor, after getting in close the Alamo had inexplicably suffered some sort of power loss that they had managed to correct after several evasive manuvers. After a fierce battle though the Nimitz had been able to drive them off and now both ships were once again heavily damaged. Saleke read fires on both ships and the shields on the Alamo were heavily damaged as well as her hull. The Nimtz had suffered more hull damage but the force fields erected in those areas were holding.   The Alamo was also trailing radiation which spoke of damage to her engines, if Captain LaBeau tried another attack on the Nimitz he judged it an 88.3% probability they would be destroyed.  As he considered this a wrenching pain seemed to start in his stomach and work its way up his abdomen. The Vulcan almost doubled over at the unexpected nature of it and the heavy feeling it brought with it. As he laid his head on the console and covered his face with his hands he noticed moisture was beginning to roll down his face from his eyes. ~ What is happening to me? ~ He thought as a small choking sound broke from his throat.   (Reply: Any, none)   (Posted by Charles)   Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Archimedes - Bridge - Lt. Saleke (jg) - 11:15) "Lieutenant are you ok? Do you require a doctor?" The question was certainly no surprise to the Vulcan as with a supreme effort he forced down the physical reactions he was having to some unidentified stimulus. During the time they had been on the bridge they had been moving from one duty and or emergency to another in trying to get the trawler under control and moved to the subspace river. During this time he had had no opportunity to stop and consider the source of the mental and emotional "attacks" that had come upon him. Saleke dried his eyes upon his sleeve and looked at the unexpected source of the question; it was the former FO under the original captain of the Archimedes.   "Lt. Commander Gideon is it not?" He wondered briefly about the attacks and how they might tie in with what he had seen in transporter room 4 before continuing. "I seem to be picking up some emotional overflow from someone or someones on the Nimitz Mr. Gideon though no logical explanation for it occurs to me at the moment to explain why." Noting out of the corner of his eye that the Alamo was still visible on sensors he was about to answer further when another wave of sobbing threatened to engulf him but with the anchor of the knowledge that he was being closely watched he managed to choke it back. (Reply: Edward Gideon, any) (Posted by Charles) Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Archimedes - Bridge – Lt.Cmdr Edward Gideon - 11:16) Edward listened attentively to the Vulcan whom for some reason appeared to be concealing something. Edward just could not place his finger up on it; in all likelihood it was he himself that was having the problem. In the last couple of hours he had shot dead his captain, surrendered the ship to a potential enemy and now trying to deal with emotional Vulcan’s. ~ Will the fun never end! ~ He thought to himself as the Vulcan spoke. "Lt. Commander Gideon is it not?" Edward rose in eyebrow even at this time of obvious emotion the Vulcan was still shut off and disconnected from human interaction. An intriguing species however not one that Edward particularly loved. However Edward confined himself to the human reaction of a smile and head nod. "I seem to be picking up some emotional overflow from someone or someone’s on the Nimitz Mr. Gideon though no logical explanation for it occurs to me at the moment to explain why." The sight that befell Edward now made him take a mental step back, the Vulcan appeared to be fighting off another emotional outburst. In his haste Edward considered his options rapidly and then spoke. "Lieutenant, what would be the logical reason behind any form of psychic assault upon you? And whom could project a assault of that size and magnitude?" (Reply Saleke) "Therefore logic would dictate it would have to be a powerful telepath and the Archimedes does not have any capable telepaths. Im concourse if im being scanned and can block but my mental abilities are not large. I was not affected by the apparent assault upon you meaning it is directed. How many telepaths are present on Nimitz?" (Reply Saleke) "How many would you deem capable of physic projection of this scale?”" (Reply Saleke) "Where are they? We would be better off locating these that have a connection to you and thus finding out what the hell is going on!" Edward stated using rudimentary Gideon logic, not 100% accurate but not bad on whims. (Reply Saleke, any) (Posted By Richard Bowes) Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Archimedes - Bridge – Lt. Saleke (jg)- 11:17) As Saleke fought against the emotional turmoil that was threatening to drown him. Lt. Commander Gideon spoke again and the Vulcan used his voice as an anchor for his focus. “Lieutenant, what would be the logical reason behind any form of psychic assault upon you? And whom could project a assault of that size and magnitude?” "Logic Mr. Gideon would seem to have little bearing on dealings with emotions, especially those imposed upon the mental faculties of a Vulcan." Saleke forced himself to consider the matter further, wrenching his attention from the whirlpool of the mind he found himself in. "As for the perpetrator of such an attack I know of no one with such power on the Nimitz. I have an extremely capable defense and could repel such, especially at such a long range. " “Therefore logic would dictate it would have to be a powerful telepath and the Archimedes does not have any capable telepaths. Im concourse if im being scanned and can block but my mental abilities are not large. I was not affected by the apparent assault upon you meaning it is directed. How many telepaths are present on Nimitz?” The young man had a very intense look on his face as he began a very pointed line of questioning looking for an answer. Saleke did not have to consider that question for long. "There are many telepaths upon the Nimitz Mr. Gideon, I have not made a count of them. This 'attack' as it were though seems to be coming under my mental shields."  “How many would you deem capable of physic projection of this scale?" Saleke judged the logical line he was following to be impeccable.  "None," The Vulcan replied. Saleke could see where the man was going with his line of questioning and found it helped direct him towards a possible answer though as of yet he could not see it.  “Where are they? We would be better off locating these that have a connection to you and thus finding out what the hell is going on!”The man nearly shouted for emphasis. "Connection?" That word caused the Vulcan's eyebrow to lift in the characteristic gesture of surprise. "I have no mental connection with anyone on the Nimitz, and have only had one telepathic contact since I came aboard her." At that point the light began to shine at the end of the tunnel. "Is it possible?" He murmered deep in thought now. (Reply: Edward Gideon, any) (posted by Charles) Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Archimedes - Bridge – Lt.Cmdr Edward Gideon - 11:18) "Connection?" The insinuation of a connection was obviously making the Vulcan uncomfortable. This was one thing that he could never understand he loved women and spending time with them but Vulcans only did it once in a blue moon. For a logical species you can’t get more illogical than that. "I have no mental connection with anyone on the Nimitz, and have only had one telepathic contact since I came aboard her." At that point the light began to shine at the end of the tunnel. "Is it possible?" "Whom was that with?" Edward inquired. (Reply Saleke) "Kirien," Edward searched his memory the name seemed familiar. "The mother of Wilson’s children?" (Reply Saleke) "How powerful is she telepathically?" (Reply Saleke) "Could she be the cause of an assault upon you? Unintentionally if she was a victim of some sort of assault her. Telepaths have been known to project themselves very loudly at times of stress or high emotion. There could be a problem with her?” (Reply Saleke) "The Nimitz is playing cat and mouse at the moment so regular coms shouldn’t be used. Could you try and contact her telepathically I’m sure I could properly help you amplify your abilities,” (Reply Saleke, any) (Posted By Richard) Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Archimedes - Bridge – Lt.Saleke (jg)- 11:19) The young man leaned toward Saleke curiously as he considered the ramifications of his thought. “Whom was that with?” Saleke was shaken from his remembrance of the mind meld done three days ago. "I mind melded with Michaella Kirien for the purpose of insulating her from the grief she was experiencing over the loss of her unborn infant as she was struggling to cope with problems she was also having with her Imzadi." “Kirien,” Edward searched his memory the name seemed familiar. “The mother of Wilson’s children?” "Yes Mr. Gideon, that is she." “How powerful is she telepathically?” "Telepathically she appears to be capable however not so powerful as to do this on her own however there was something that happened toward the end of the meld as I was withdrawing." Saleke considered the last of the contact he had with her for an instant. He closed his eyes and for the next minute it felt as though goosebumps were crawling over her skin as her nervous system reacted to the mental manipulations he was making then he opened his eyes again. "It is finished Doctor." And once again he was standing over her but this time taking his hands from her face. Michaella caught Saleke's wrists, holding in her firm grip. "Don't." She said very quietly, then shook her head, feeling confused and a tad bit disoriented. "I'm sorry." She spoke softly, stopping the contact. He'd burned through the telepathic barriers that the medicine had put on her artificially. It was all right, since now she was no longer projecting grief. Salek's eyebrow lifted at this new display as she released his wrists then with an incliniation of his head said. "Goodbye Doctor Kirien," while he wondered as he walked away what had just transpired to cause her to do such a thing. ~ When dealing with emotions there is little rational sense .... much less logic." He thought as he walked through the door.  While he was considering this Lt. Commander Edwards spoke again. “Could she be the cause of an assault upon you? Unintentionally if she was a victim of some sort of assault upon her. Telepaths have been known to project themselves very loudly at times of stress or high emotion. There could be a problem with her?” Saleke was grateful for the conversation, he found it was helping take his mind from the emotions  that had been coming upon him. Saleke looked at the man as he formulated his reply. "She grabbed my wrists as I was withdrawing from the meld and surprised me, breaking my concentration Mr. Gideon. I am considering the possibility that something of the mindlink remains, it is not common to be sure but is entirely within the realm of logic and possibility. Also it has been reported that Commander Wilson died during the earlier battle shortly after we seized the Archimedes. The barriers I placed in her mind were designed to help her distress at the time but his death and the breaking of her link with him would be I assume an extremely painful experience, painful enough possibly to overcome the assist I gave her." “The Nimitz is playing cat and mouse at the moment so regular coms shouldn’t be used. Could you try and contact her telepathically I’m sure I could properly help you amplify your abilities,” Saleke could see the man's excitement in his face and eyes at the unraveling of the mystery and was about to answer when the tells on the science console caused him to pause and give it his full attention. The Alamo had warped to a distance of less than a light year ahead of the trawler and had turned and had the Archimedes between it and the Nimitz and was heading straight for the trawler at warp 2. "It appears that solution will have to wait Mr. Gideon, we are about to be attacked," said Saleke as he sat back down at the console. "Mr. Eseg`ne turn us on a heading of 83 degrees, mark two and Mr. Slytherwald bring weapons to full power." (Reply: Edward Gideon, Tom Slytherwald)  "Mr. Gideon please man the OPS console, since Mr. Tagon has returned to engineering we have a void on the bridge," Saleke said. (Reply: Edward Gideon) Saleke then turned to Commander Troi. "Commander, the Alamo is on an attack course.!" (Reply: Commander Troi) "Yes Commander, Alamo is badly damaged and appears to be making a suicide run, we had best be prepared for any eventuality, even ramming."
